Kyle Kidd is an artist, curator, community worker, and visionary of social transformation.
Kyle (all pronouns) creates Black Art, pulling from the many different avenues of black music and culture, vocally fusing classical, jazz, blues, gospel, funk and soul. They are currently performing throughout the country with artists such as Mourning a BLKstar, Algiers, and Richard Kennedy. Kyle also works as an educator in the Youth Sing Out program, collaborating with Roots of American Music, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. In their solo division, Kyle composes original music and curates multi-sensory experiences that incorporate stylized video, music, and fashion. They intend for their art in all its forms to be a tribal legacy, centered on representation, raw expression, and true freedom for each of us.
“Kyle Kidd is without a doubt one of the most thrilling, dynamic, and powerful voices of a generation. Working with Kyle is one of the greatest privileges; they bring positive energy, humor, and Simone Biles level vocal gymnastics that both excite and enchant the audience every single time. After meeting online I immediately knew that this was the collaboration I had been dreaming of my entire life. A star in every sense, I am beyond thrilled to watch Kyle take his place in the history books with Mother Luther and Mother Sylvester, because his voice is truly on its own wave of phenomenal and will absolutely last the test of time.”
-Richard Kennedy
“(Their) voice was equally at ease with sultry cabaret, belting vocals, and high, operatic soprano. The work combined aspects of gospel and blues, as well as electronics ... the music moving ever higher, thicker in texture and more brilliant.”

“The windows at Transformer Station should have been taped to keep from shattering during Kyle Kidd’s powerful vocal performance there … Kidd’s voice is an expressive instrument that whispers, teases and soars as it starts deep within and then explodes to the heavens.”
Laura Ruth Bidwell, Co-owner of the Transformer Station

Art is a process of non-stop work and I’m learning as I go. This is a new era for me, and us, and I find myself in powerfully vulnerable places, telling deeply personal stories. I am stepping into my worth and allowing myself to be seen - not just for myself but for others like me, too. All the people who look like me, feel like me, hurt like me. Together, we’re the future.
My art is a triumphant offering to myself first, but also to our community so that we may all join in the celebration of coming out and being recognized for our individual nature as well as our collective energy.
Music has saved my life over and over: the intimacy of lyrics, the emotional release, and the profound moments of belonging. May we all be supported in the ability to live and coexist freely and openly, allowing space for each member through representation or shared experiences, so that we all are able to thrive authentically.
To you, I offer: Be encouraged to stand in the strength of love and to worship what it means to live in truth.
